If you decide to visit the city of Weimar on the second weekend in October, you will experience the famous Weimar onion market, the oldest folk festival in Thuringia.
In the course of the 19th century, the onion market developed into a national attraction. After it was extended to three days (Saturday to Monday, but on Sunday only after the service), a separate market regulation was issued in 1872.
To assist to this unique festival, you have to go the second weekend in October which is always celebrated for three days – the 368th edition will take place from October 8 to 10, 2021.
